Using Trackable URLs in Enquire MAP
Enquire MAP automatically tracks all URLs created in email campaigns and provides reporting on the URL clicks:
If the User wants to track a URL as part of an Enquire MAP campaign that will be placed on a third party website, the User can create a Trackable URL under Campaign Assets Trackable Links:
When a new URL is added under Campaign Assets, a Shortened URL will be generated, and it has to be placed on a button or as a URL on a third party website where it is to be tracked.
Statistics for campaign-specific Trackable links/ URL clicks will be found on third party websites in Campaign Reports (Drip Campaign Report, Email Campaign Report), and a list of all trackable links/ URLs used in the account within all campaigns can be found under Assets > Trackable Links:
There is also an option to add a new Trackable Link under Assets > Trackable Links but the statistics for the links/ URLs that were NOT added to a specific campaign are only available in the WEBSITE VISITS VIA SHARED LINKS widget:
There are cases when the User wants to track a file download. For the Corporate Marketer package, Enquire MAP offers an easy and simple way to force online users to complete a form before accessing the hosted file called Gated Files. Detailed Guidance on How to Use Protected Assets or Gated Files.
How do I set up Protected Assets (Gated Files)?
The Gated Files function in Enquire MAP is an easy and simple way to force online users to complete a form before accessing the hosted file. If the person has filled out the form, the file is easily accessible and tracked. Every time a person downloads the file, it shows up on the prospect's timeline, and there are asset reports that show the performance of a given file.
Please Note: File Gating is only supported in the Corporate Marketer package. Small Business Marketer has tracked files and not gated files. The User can track all file downloads with both packages but the gating option is only on Corporate Marketer package.
Tip: Set up a registration page before uploading assets
An asset can be a white paper, data sheet, brochure, video or other document. Acquiring contact information is a key element to marketing. Protected Assets help the User build the contact list to use for future marketing initiatives. Here is how to use the Gated File functionality in Enquire MAP.
From the Assets menu in Enquire MAP:
- Select Files
- Click New File
- Name the file: The name given to the file. The more descriptive the better. This can be referenced in Landing Pages with the dynamic field %CONTENT_ASSET.ASSET_FILE_NAME%
- Description: Provide a description of the asset. I.E., January 2014 Data Sheet for Widget XYZ. This can be referenced in Landing Pages with the dynamic field %CONTENT_ASSET.DESCRIPTION%
- If anonymous, register here: Provide the full URL to an Enquire MAP form that will be presented to the User in the event they have not already registered for a gated file.
- File: Click Select Asset then upload the asset such as image, video, document, and compressed file types. Finally,
- Click Save Asset
Using the Gated File link
Once saved, a public access URL will be provided: http://www2.yourdomain.com/submit/download/76 that can be embedded into an email, on a website, in a online directory or just about anywhere.
What happens when the Gated File Link is clicked?
When the link is clicked, Enquire MAP will check to see if the User is registered in the platform. If not, they will be presented with a registration form. Once the User submits the form, access to the asset will be provided. The link/ URL provided to Users expires very quickly thus preventing them from being able to share the link/ URL.
It is important to note that the domain for the public link/ URL needs to be the same as the form submit domain. If the registration page is an Enquire MAP landing page, everything will work without special considerations. If using an embedded form on the website as a registration form, the User will need to change the link/ URL that the form submits to.
The above assumes the the User has the www2 subdomain set up correctly. If using the WordPress plugin and shortcodes for the Enquire MAP form, the User will not be able to edit the form code, therefore, the only option will be to create the form in Enquire MAP then export the HTML to embed into the website.
Ensure that the form DOES NOT use an in-place confirmation. The Enquire MAP form must be set to either redirect to a confirmation page or to 'display the following message' in which the 'system generated' confirmation is created. Please Note: This page is never displayed as the asset is presented in its place.
For Small Business Marketer package, the User can use the "Files" instead. This feature is under the account Assets.
If the intention is to send a single email to be tracked, the Chrome Extension/Outlook plugin is an outstanding solution. Emails can be sent directly from Gmail or MS Outlook accounts, and all the information about Email opens and link clicks will be visible on the contact's timeline in Enquire MAP.
